2.    Register for a Specific Auction

Now that you are registered to bid for the Online Only Auctions you can sign up (register) to bid for any upcoming auction that has a catalog available.
You must sign up/register for each specific auction you want to bid on. Each auction has its own set of terms to agree to.
To find the auction you want to bid on go to: https://murphyauction.hibid.com/auctions/ and and click on the "register to bid" button (next to the auction gavel). See screen image below.

A terms window will pop up, read and accept the terms to confirm registration to begin bidding.

You will be asked to enter a credit card for a $1.00 pre-authorization and those funds will get released back to you within 5 business days. The James G. Murphy Co. will not automatically charge that card for your purchases. You will receive payment instructions with your auction invoice. You will only need to enter your credit card once every 120 days.

3.    How the Bidding Works

Timed Online Only bidding is the 7-day period of time when bidders can monitor the auctions and place bids on items being offered. Each auction has a start and end date listed on the Auction Schedule. Bidders have the opportunity to place a bid at the current price or place their maximum bid (the highest amount they are willing to bid at that time) on that item. Other bidders will not be able to see the maximum bid until it has been reached. The James G. Murphy Co. will not take absentee bids over the phone or via email, all bids must come through the Online bidding platform. In not accepting absentee bids, we are ensuring a fair auction by requiring each bidder to agree to the specific terms of each auction. In the case of a tie bid, precedence is given to the earliest bid.

When a bidder is outbid an email notification will be sent to the bidder allowing another bid to be placed as long as the bidder chose to be notified when outbid during the registration process.

Soft Close - Any bid that is placed in the last two minutes of the auction will extend the closing 2 additional minutes. For example, if an item is scheduled to close in 30 seconds and a bid is placed the time will get extended to 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
All sales are final when the bidding on item has closed. No cancellations allowed.

4.    Invoices/Payment

After the auction has concluded, an email notification will be sent out to the winning bidder with our contact and billing information. You will also receive an invoice and payment instructions. All invoices will include sales tax for the location of the auction. Any sales tax exemptions will be in accordance with state law where the auction is located. The James G. Murphy Co. will not automatically charge your credit card on file for your purchases.

"...I was amazed at how realistic your predictions were regarding auction results. In market conditions like they are I was not sure what to expect. Although as a seller we may never be happy with the number, you called it like you saw it. I do appreciate that.  Your staff is amazing. They handled the details with great care and had the knowledge to process even the items that had strings attached.  Again, Thank you! You made the decision to downsize a bit more tolerable than I thought possible."
